Distractions

Moments of profound thought

Glimpses between distractions.

Even now I write this

Glimpses between distractions

The kids yell

The birds chirp

Any moment of profound thought

But a glimpse between distractions.

The sunlight calls me through the window

It yearns to burn

Aches to create

The sunlight calls me through the window

Just a glimpse between distractions.

Back to my screen

To sleep awake

Waiting for nothing

My everything.

Hardly a glimpse between distractions.

Applications, just fabrications

An ocean of thought,

I’m drowning.

I’m reaching up for air

Through polluted waters of entitlement.

Glimpses between distractions.

Heaven and earth we searched

We looked and found

Nothing we needed

Everything, I pleaded.

It’s all a glimpse between distractions.
